I’ve just got back from the inaugural London Korea Festival! Designed to introduce Brits to Korean culture beyond (but not excluding) K-popstar Psy, Trafalgar Square was transformed into Little Korea for the day. There were tents for K-Game, K-Music, K-Character and Webtoons, and not quite enough food stalls to satisfy this hungry capital. More kimchi next time, folks – I hear tales of 90-minute queues. Boo.
Undoubtedly, the big crowd-puller of the day was K-pop supergroup, f(x). Fresh from the official announcement that Sulli has left the group to focus on her acting, this was the band’s first official gig as a quartet – and their first ever trip to London!
Welcome guys ^-^
As the presenters attempted to introduce them, the crowd was beyond mental. I mean, I’ve heard K-poppers are crazy, but it was seriously LOUD.
For a free show, it was immense. Amber owned the stage on her onesies for the first part of Shake That Brass, and was joined by the little powerhouse Luna, and then Krystal and Victoria (I think the camera man has a bit of a crush on Victoria; we saw a LOT of her
hehe). They gave an explosive performance of Rum Pum Pum Pum, followed by Hot Summer and Red Light.
I cannot WAIT for my trip around Asia at the end of the year, and I think I’m going to have to check out tour dates to see a full-on, bells-and-whistles show.
